Woman With A Turban

SINCE she was young, Annisa, the daughter of a pesantren leader, just closed to her distant of cousin her mother, Lek Khudori, who lived with them. Because, just Khudori could understand her feelings, thoughts, desires, and ideals. While parents who uphold cultural traditions in their environment, it makes Annisa felt confined freedom just because she's a woman. In fact, she felt her father's favoritism toward her, because the two brothers, Rizal and Wildan, given the freedom to do whatever he likes.
Annisa was essentially a rebel type, although forbidden by her father to learn to ride a horse because women do not deserve to do so is considered pecicilan or petakilan, but she secretly still learn from Khudori. She has also been protested the number of obligations that must be endured as a woman at home, helping her mother in the kitchen and other housekeeping tasks to the house, while his brother left to lazy though by reason of learning. That was why, Annisa felt very sad when Lek Khudori should leave her to continue his studies in Cairo.
The days without Lek Khudori at her side, for Annisa was torture. Because there was no person who could understand and defend her anymore. Nevertheless, the tempestuous soul remain. She often asked critical questions to the religious teachers, if any instruction which she considers unfair to the women. She also had a narrow squeak when they wanted to come to the cinema to watch a movie that always forbidden for. However Annisa really helpless when he betrothed by her family without his consent. She was still very young and wanted the school can only be paused, confused and scared. Due regard silence as consent, Nisa was married to Shamsuddin, the son of his father's friends are equally kyai pesantren leaders.
Since Nisa first saw him. she did not liked him. Especially when the first night, Shamsuddin forced her to serve him. He raped her. Make Nisa felt sick and disgusted. In fact, she's really a fever at last. The doctor who examined her to her had a rest. But her husband still insisted.
Only the encouragement of Lek Khudori through his letters made Annisa survived. Her mind focused only on learning and school. Even when a widow named Kulsum came and claimed the baby she was pregnant was Shamsuddin’s, Nisa nonchalant and let her parent in law made the decision. She also did not care when Kulsum become even lived with them. Apparently, all were not made Shamsuddin’s behavior better. Even after having a child from Kulsum, Shamsuddin still liked to play outside the house, and got a relationship with another widow named Denok. Finally, because feeling the same, Kulsum became close to Nisa, and felt just like sisters.
After finishing his scholars in Cairo and went on his S2 in Berlin, Lek Khudori was back. Annisa deliberately go on leave from the school to greet him her parents’ house who entered into salvation. In the midst of a crowd guests, they took off the miss. Annisa shed the feelings and sufferings to tell Khudori. Her mother, who had heard the request Annisa storytelling. Nisa initially hesitated to tell the bitter truth to her mother's household. But because pressed, she honetly told about her husband's misdeeds to her. Her mother was surprised and shocked. Moreover Annisa tend to blame parents, who considered forcing her to marry with Shamsuddin. His mother also conveyed this to his father. Family meeting was convened to resolve the problem. Finally all agreed to send representatives to negotiate with Shamsuddin's family. Decided to divorce to marriage negotiations Annisa and Shamsuddin.
Annisa was back to live with her parents. Proximity Nisa and Lek Khudori invited gossip and slander that developed in their neighborhood. Mother asked Nisa, while her father was interrogating Khudori. Khudori acknowledged the relationship between them, although that develops in the community is too excessive. Khudori then asked to leave the house.
To avoid further rumors, Nisa also delivered to continue her study to Yogya. Busy life on campus made her forget the suffering. One day, Khudori appeared in front of her. Apparently, he was a lecturer at the two campuses. He wanted her to marry him. After thinking about it, Annisa finally accepted. They were married in a simple ceremony.
But marriage did not run smoothly because of the trauma of the first night when Annisa married with Shamsuddin. Fortunately, Khudori understood his wife's condition and willing to be patient. A few days later, they finally managed to overcome the trauma. Originally they had plans to postpone having children. But because of Annisa’s jealousy of the gossip that said Khudori ever married and had children in Berlin, this plan was canceled. Annisa pregnant.
One day, Nisa, Khudori, and Mahbub, their child, met Syamsuddin and Kulsum in a wedding party. Syamsuddin wanted to deny, but Khudori blocked him. In Annisa’s eyes, Syamsuddin hated them dan kept the hatred. In the other hand Kulsum and Fadillah looked happy. Annisa knew from Kulsum, the rumour about Khudori’s marriage in German was shaed by Syamsuddin to ruin their good name.
Some time later, Khudori got an accident. Annisa suspected Syamsuddin hit him, so Khudori experiened bleeding in the head and died. But she did not want to prejudice because she had no real evidence.

What A Funny (State Is This)

AFTER graduating from college majoring management, Abdul Muluk could not get a job yet. One day he caught a young pickpocket, Comet, acting in the market, but he then released him. When Muluk met him again, Comet treated, and even invited him to their headquarters, met with the leader of pickpockets, Jarot. Then Muluk offered them profit sharing project. Muluk’s duties were managing and organizing their finances so that in future they would not be a thief again. This proposal was fully supported by Jarot who really did not want these children being pickpockets forever.
To his father, Haji Makbul, and his 2 friends, Haji Sarmidi who was the father of Rahmah, his beloved women, and Haji Rahmat, Muluk said he had got a job in human resources development, poverty alleviation projects. They were all happy, especially when seeing Muluk got a motorcycle from his company. Moreover Haji Sarmidi who thougt education was not important and want ed his doughter be proposed as soon as possible, because Jufri, a legislative candidate also wanted Rahmah as his wife.
After the agreement, Muluk knew more about this pickpocket group, there were pickpockets who acted specially in the market, led by Comets, in the Mall which led by Gareng or Glen, who the most stubborn among them, and on buses or public transportation, led by Ribut who always dressed in school uniforms. Whereas all the pickpockets there was no one ever studied or learned. That is why, Muluk then invited Syamsul, Bachelor of Education who is also unemployed and spends her time playing dried cassava to be their teacher. At first some of them refused to learn, but Jarot forced them. Glen ever almost caught because he ran towards to police office because of not being able to read. Finally, they agreed to learn, although their manner and style still kept by them.
Haji Rahmat asked Muluk to invite Fifit, his daughter, who just spent the time to take a quiz and raffle in the hope of getting prizes also worked with him. Due to the highly requested, Muluk fulfilled it. Fifit initially shocked to see the school and children who had be taught by her. But she later agreed to teach the Islamic religion to them.
Then, after following completion of the activity of picking pockets, they also learned. Not just listening but also practicing the theory. For example, they had to take a bath for cleaning parts of the lessons to practice the faith. Muluk, Syamsul, and Fifit also brought students to see directly what they learned, one of whom visited the capitol. In addition to the practice of prayer, they are also taught to conduct flag-raising ceremony correctly.
One day, Haji Makbul asked Fifit to take him and his friends, Haji Rahmat and Haji Sarmidi to her and Muluk’s office. Fifit was very confused, because Muluk couldnot be connected. At the same time, Muluk dan Syamsul prepared symbolic ceremonial for changing 6 pickpokcets became hawkers. Forcedly, Fifit took the 3 haji the headquarters of the pickpocket where was also their classroom.
The arrival of this third-person surprised the kids and Syamsul. But the most confusion was Muluk, who saw the changes in her father's face to see the conditions. While Syamsul and Fifit were eager to show their achievements teaching the pickpockets. They memorized the Pancasila, the Constitution Preamble 45, and the Text of Indonesian Proclamation..Haji Rahmat asked their religious studies, they showed reading prayers, of Shalat, 5 pillars of Islam, and others. Haji Rahmat seem pleased. Haji Sarmidi still confused and Haji Makbul saved his anger.
When they went home, Haji Makbul told that their salaries were drawn from the result of pickpocket which means haram --- illegal to use. Both haji Makbul and Rahmat agreed not to eat or drink anything given by their children. Both stayed at the mosque, asked forgiveness for their mistakes to educate their children. Muluk and Fifit felt awry to watch their behaviour. While Syamsul who felt himself useful was angry because it mean he would stop teaching and back into unemployment.
On the other hand, the changing of the profession of a pickpocket become hawkers were not as easy to say it. They felt more comfortable being a pickpocket than a hawker. It was lighter work, and the result was more. Although they've memorized the Pancasila and shalat reading, did not mean they instantly changed. Only Comets and some friends who finally realized and choose to become hawkers as expected by Muluk.
Muluk followed his father's advice for taking of driving courses in order willing to be a driver overseas. On the road, he met Gareng who pursued the mass because he still picked pocket. But he was happy to see Comet and friends becoming the hawlers. At that moment, he saw a car which carrying trantib officers. He yelled Comets and his friends to fled. Trantib officers chase them. Muluk tried to block, even willing to give herself arrested.Although the officers brought him to their car, Muluk kept praising Comet and his friends who were sad to see him arrested.
Perhaps, it was one of the funny things of this country, they are trying to make a living legaly in hall way becoming the hawkers were arrested, while the corrupt bargain smile and babble on TV. Ironic indeed Indonesia Raya! But we kept hoping Our Indonesia would be better.

THIS LOVE ISN’T ORDINARY LOVE

By : Lis Maulina

This love isn’t ordinary love
For I --- like an owl
Who was living bellow on earth
Who was having nothing
Who was giving it

This love isn,t ordinary love
For you --- like the moon
Who was living above the sky
Who was having fame light
Who was getting it

This love isn’ ordinary love
For I --- like an owl who is longing for you --- the moon
Who hoping not much except the love it self
‘cause I’d love to love you…
